Children

The Site is meant for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and think your child has given us Personal Information, please contact us using the details at the end of this policy and we will delete it.

How We Share Your Information

We share Personal Information with trusted service providers who help us run our business and fulfil your orders, as described above. For example:

  • Our online store runs on Shopify. To learn how Shopify handles your Personal Information, see Shopify's Privacy Policy.
  • We may also disclose Personal Information when the law requires it, when we receive a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request, or when we need to protect our rights.

Personalised Advertising

As mentioned above, we may use your Personal Information to show you ads or send you marketing that we think you will find relevant. For example:

  • We use Google Analytics to understand how shoppers use the Site. You can read how Google uses your information in Google's Privacy Policy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics here.
  • We share information about how you use the Site, what you buy, and how you engage with our ads on other websites with our advertising partners. Some of this is shared by us directly, and some through cookies or similar technologies, which you may be asked to consent to depending on where you live.

To learn more about how targeted advertising works, visit the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) guide.

You can turn off personalised ads on these platforms:

You can also opt out of several of these services through the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out portal.

How We Use Your Information

We use your Personal Information to deliver our services to you. This includes showing products for sale, taking payments, shipping and fulfilling your orders, and keeping you informed about new products, services and promotions.

If you live in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your Personal Information under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on one or more of these grounds:

  • you have given your consent;
  • it is needed to carry out our contract with you;
  • we must meet a legal obligation;
  • it protects your vital interests;
  • it is needed for a task carried out in the public interest; or
  • it serves our legitimate interests, provided these do not outweigh your fundamental rights and freedoms.

How Long We Keep Your Information

When you place an order with us, we keep your Personal Information in our records until you ask us to delete it. See "Your Privacy Rights" below for more on your right to erasure.

Automated Decision-Making

If you live in the EEA, you may object to decisions made solely by automated means (including profiling) that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

Houbes does not make fully automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects based on customer data.

Our processor, Shopify, uses limited automated decision-making to help prevent fraud. This does not have a legal or similarly significant effect on you. It includes:

  • temporarily blocking IP addresses linked to repeated failed transactions, for a few hours; and
  • temporarily blocking payment cards linked to those blocked IP addresses, for a few days.

Your Privacy Rights

Residents of the EEA (GDPR)

If you live in the EEA, you can ask to see the Personal Information we hold about you, have it transferred to another service, or have it corrected, updated or deleted. To use any of these rights, please contact us using the details below.

Your Personal Information is first processed in Ireland and then transferred outside Europe, including to Canada and the United States, for storage and further processing. To learn how these transfers meet GDPR requirements, see Shopify's GDPR Whitepaper.

Residents of California (CCPA)

If you live in California, you can ask to see the Personal Information we hold about you (your "Right to Know"), have it transferred to another service, or have it corrected, updated or deleted. To use any of these rights, please contact us.

If you would like an authorised agent to make these requests for you, please contact us as well.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of data saved to your computer or device when you visit the Site. We use several kinds of cookies, including functional, performance, advertising, and social media or content cookies. Cookies improve your browsing by remembering your actions and settings, such as your login and region, so you do not have to enter them again each time you return or move between pages. They also tell us how visitors use the Site, for example whether someone is visiting for the first time or comes back often.

How long a cookie stays on your device depends on its type. Session cookies are removed when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them. Most cookies we use are persistent and expire anywhere from 30 minutes to two years after they are saved.

You can manage cookies in several ways. Please note that deleting or blocking cookies may affect your experience, and some parts of the Site may not work properly.

Most browsers accept cookies by default, but you can change this in your browser settings, usually under "Tools" or "Preferences". Your browser's help section, or sites such as allaboutcookies.org, explain how to block, manage or filter cookies.

Blocking cookies may not fully stop us from sharing information with third parties such as our advertising partners. To use your rights or opt out of certain uses of your information by these partners, follow the steps in the "Personalised Advertising" section above.

Do Not Track

There is currently no common industry standard for responding to "Do Not Track" signals. For this reason, we do not change how we collect or use data when your browser sends one.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in how we work or for operational, legal or regulatory reasons.

Contact Us

If you would like to know more about our privacy practices, have a question, or wish to make a complaint, please email us at support@houbes.com or use the form on our "Contact" page, which you can find in the footer of the Site.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your complaint, you have the right to raise it with your local data protection authority.
